Transonic Announces Release of Reusable Charbel Micro-Flowprobes®
Intracranial and extracranial flowprobes designed to reduce risk of intraoperative and postoperative stroke, reduce time in operating room.
Every day, cerebrovascular neurosurgeons skillfully tackle ever more complex aneurysm clipping and occlusive disease cases. For over two decades, pre-sterilized single use Charbel Micro-Flowprobes have helped these surgeons achieve optimal outcomes. Now, Transonic announces the release of new reusable Charbel Micro-Flowprobes®.
Created in partnership with Fady T. Charbel, M.D., F.A.C.S, Charbel Flow Probes provide volume flow measurements during and after aneurysm clipping and EC-IC bypass procedures. Quantitative flow measurement helps guide the surgeon in identifying the optimal location for aneurysm clipping, verifies preservation or augmentation of flow and allows for immediate corrective action, if needed, before closing the patient.
Charbel Intracranial Micro-Flowprobes®, with a long bayonet handle, are designed for deep intracranial surgery. Charbel Extracranial Micro-Flowprobes®, feature a shorter bayonet handle and larger flow-sensing body for use on extracranial vessels. Both are now available in the US as reusable 16-use probes or as the standard pre-sterilized single-use probes.
Specially designed to not compress delicate neuro vessels and angled to optimize the surgeon’s view through the microscope, the probes use ultrasonic transit time principles originated by Transonic to directly measure blood flow volume, not velocity
