EDTNA/ERCA Offers a Global Renal Care Perspective
The European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association/European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA) motto is “True Partnership and Global Approach in Management of Renal Care.”
Established in 1971, EDTNA/ERCA is a leading multidisciplinary renal care association with 1600 members from 70 countries. Its goal is to address the special educational needs of nurses and physicians, social workers, dietitians, technicians, transplant coordinators and unit managers that work with renal patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD). EDTNA/ERCA’s goal is excellence in everything its does. EDTNA/ERCA’s focus is on the unique competencies and experience of each and every member to create a caring culture that elicits the best in everyone.
Since it origin, EDTNA/ERCA has grown to become one of the most important forums in the world for exchanging of information and experience for all members of the renal care team. It is the only association of its kind offering a multi-disciplinary collaboration and exchange on a truly European and world-wide level. This includes all aspects of renal treatment prevention and early detection of CKD, management of dialysis therapy, transplantation and supportive care
EDTNA/ERCA has a network of expert clinician-based volunteers in its Brand Ambassador Program that represent a variety of healthcare fields in Australia/New Zealand, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. The volunteers work collaboratively through project groups supported by consultants in the following specialties: anaemia, hemodialysis, nutrition, psychosocial care, peritoneal dialysis, CKD, education and transplantation.
Through EDTNA/ERCA global presence it shares knowledge and experience at Conferences and Seminars and through publications and digital programs. Its annual conference provides an education forum for the exchange of information and experience, the utilization of the expertise of health care professionals, service leaders, academics, researchers, care givers, people with renal disease and industry partners, from around 70 countries. All participants come together to share innovations and knowledge.
The Journal of Renal Care (JoRC), formally the EDTNA/ERCA Journal, is the official publication of the European Dialysis and Transplant Nursing Association /European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA). It publishes a broad range of peer-reviewed clinical, research and educational papers for health care professionals working in kidney care.
RenalPro is a unique moderated forum by EDTNA/ERCA that allows members to directly communicate with colleagues; ask questions, share experiences and techniques, or provide comments.
Moreover, EDTNA/ERCA’s support has been instrumental in the success of DOPPS, a prospective cohort study of hemodialysis practices based on the collection of observational longitudinal data for a random sample of patients from dialysis facilities in a representative and random sample of units in twenty countries.
